One of the leaders of the #EndBadGovernance protest, Babatunde Oluajo, has been released after being detained for three days by the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA).
According to SaharaReporters, Oluajo, also known as OSB Sankara, was freed on Thursday.
However, other protest leaders, including Adaramoye Michael (Michael Lenin) and Mosiu Sodiq, remain in custody. They were arrested on Monday in Abuja under orders from the NSA,” a source told SaharaReporters.
Michael was reportedly arrested at his home in Apo around 2 a.m. on Monday and later transferred to the Inspector General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters.
The Director of Mobilisation for the Take It Back Movement, Damilare Adenola, said Michael was assaulted and arrested in the presence of his family in his home by the Department of State Services (DSS). Adenola further called for Michael’s “immediate, unconditional release.”
Despite these reports, the DSS denied having Michael in custody via a statement posted on X. However, they acknowledged making other arrests related to the protests against hunger and bad governance in Nigeria.
Nevertheless, lawyers are continuing efforts to secure the release of Lenin and Sodiq, with hopes that they will be freed soon.
