Edo Polls: INEC Uploads Over 98% Of Results On IREV, Set To Resume Collation At 10AM

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded 98.56 per cent of polling unit results of the Edo governorship election on the result viewing portal (IReV).

A check by West Africa Weekly as of Sunday, September 22, 2024, 8:01:04 AM (WAT) confirmed that 4,454 results out of 4,519 had been uploaded on IReV.

Asue Ighodalo, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is currently leading, ahead of Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP).

Of the 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs) with polling units, 4 LGAs have completed uploading their polling unit results, including Owan East Wards, with polling unit number 12/14/11/002 having completed its 189 results from 11 wards uploaded on IReV.

Similarly, Esan South East LGA has uploaded 160 polling unit results from 10 wards, while Esan North East LGA has uploaded 172 polling unit results from 11 wards.

Elsewhere, Igueben LGA has uploaded 95 polling unit results from its ten regional wards.

Meanwhile, the controversial Residential Electoral Commissioner, Anugbum Onuoha has announced that the collation of results opened at 9 PM on Saturday, September 21, and will resume on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 10 AM WAT.

Following the collation of results, INEC is expected to declare the winner live on local television later today.
