Afro Nation 2025 opened with a powerful celebration of African music in Portimão, Portugal on Wednesday night, with Nigerian stars Davido and Shallipopi taking centre stage. The three-day festival, known for spotlighting Afrobeat, Amapiano, and global Black music, began on a high note with unforgettable performances and emotional moments.

Shallipopi, known for his bold stagecraft, thrilled fans when he brought his siblings and fellow artists on stage while performing the hit track Lahoo. His lively show added a personal, heartwarming touch to the opening night and drew roaring cheers from the crowd.

Later in the evening, multi-award-winning Afrobeats icon Davido took the stage and kept the momentum alive with a string of chart-topping hits, including If, Fall, Dami Duro, and Fia. His performance was met with electrifying energy and sing-alongs from thousands of fans.

Afro Nation began in 2019 and has grown into one of the biggest music festivals dedicated to African sounds and Black culture. Held annually on the beaches of Portugal, it brings together global superstars and rising acts, providing a platform that celebrates African excellence in music, art, and unity.

Nigerian singer Tems headlined Thursday night, while Grammy-winning Burna Boy will close out the festival on Friday, alongside South Africa’s Kamo Mphela, French rapper Booba, and Jamaican star Dexta Daps.
