Cocaine Discovered in India-bound Shipment at MMA

477

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency discovered cocaine in a shipment going to India at the cargo terminal of the Muritala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

NDLEA Spokesman Femi Babafemi said that a consignment of spare parts from Asaba, Delta State, headed for Malviya Nagar, New Delhi in India, was intercepted. He made this statement on Sunday, 24 December 2023 in Abuja. The discovery was made by sniffer dogs that were deployed to examine the shipment on Wednesday, 22nd December 2023. The dogs identified and singled out the shipment containing the narcotics.

According to Mr Babafemi, “A physical examination later confirmed it to be cocaine measuring 200 grams”.

Other discoveries recently made by the agency include 35kg of Canadian loud seized at Tincan coming from Toronto, 25 thousand tramadol pills found in Abuja, 435.1kg of Indaian hemp recovered from a warehouse in Enugu amongst others.

There seems to be an increase in the proliferation of drugs in the country lately. The reason for that may or may not be politically affiliated.
