British Media reacts to Meghan and Harry's visit to Nigeria

Prince and Meghan Harry’s visit to Nigeria has sparked a ‘racist’ and false narrative peddled by the British media and personalities against the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

  1. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Nigeria regarding the Invictus Games at the invitation of the Nigerian Chief of Defence Staff.

The Invictus Games, an international multi-sport event conceived by Prince Harry, aims to support the rehabilitation of wounded and ill servicemen and women.

However, following Prince and Meghan Harry’s return to the United Kingdom, British media, including Good Morning Britain and Journalist Christopher Wilson, described Nigeria’s human rights records in a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter) as “Not far short of Nazi Germany’s.”

Wilson eventually responded to criticism and called for caution, stating that he deleted the post because it had caused unanticipated offence.

More videos from the Assie Press have since emerged on a video-based social media app, TikTok, depicting Nigeria in a bad light as a poor country plagued with insecurity.

Meanwhile, in their attempt to discredit the couple, the British media denigrated Nigeria, labelling it as unsafe with an annual income of $200.

However, contrary to the false narratives, Meghan and Harry’s visit to Nigeria was met with absolute hospitality and love for the couple.
