The highly anticipated 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) is set to take place on May 10, 2025, celebrating the best in African film and television with 28 awards.

This year, the event maintains its signature format, dividing the awards into two segments: 18 non-voting categories judged by industry professionals and 10 public-voting categories where audiences have the final say.

A major highlight for 2025 is introducing the Best Music Score award, a category created to recognise composers and sound designers who elevate storytelling through music.

The journey to the awards night officially kicks off on March 23, when nominees will be unveiled across all Africa Magic channels at 7:00 p.m. From that moment, fans can begin voting for their favourites via the AMVCA website, influencing the final results in the public voting categories.

Femi Odugbemi, a respected filmmaker and storyteller, will return as the Head Judge, leading the expert panel for evaluating the technical categories. Meanwhile, movie lovers across the continent are expected to engage actively in voting, as seen in previous editions.

The AMVCA, established by MultiChoice in 2013, has become a defining moment for African entertainment, honouring the creativity, hard work, and innovation of filmmakers, actors, and production professionals. Each edition brings together industry heavyweights and emerging talents, spotlighting the depth and diversity of African storytelling.

As the countdown to May 10 begins, excitement is already building. Beyond the awards, the night promises dazzling fashion, emotional victories, and unforgettable moments that further cement the AMVCA’s role as a leading force in African cinema.
