After Receiving ₦32m for Land in Lagos, Middlechase Ltd Goes Incommunicado

Middlechase Property Ltd. has refused to allocate a plot of land in Maryland, Lagos, to Enoch Ayodeji, a Nigerian resident in the US, after he paid N32 million for it in 2021.

Ayodeji told West Africa Weekly on Friday that he paid ₦32 million between July and August 2021 after he saw an advert by Middlechase Property Ltd on YouTube.

The property advert was Easton Towers, to which I deposited ₦10 million on July 7, 2021 to a Zenith Bank Account — 1015720778. On July 13, I paid another ₦12 million and ₦5 million on July 29, then another ₦5 million on August 2, 2021, for full payment of ₦32 million,” Ayodeji told West Africa Weekly.

Having paid in full for the land, Middlechase Property Ltd. promised to allocate the land to Ayodeji after three months. The real estate firm issued a contract of sales and receipts of payment on August 4, 2021.

However, Middlechase avoided him throughout late 2021, saying they were “working on it.”

I eventually asked my lawyer to write them [Middlechase] on September 28, 2022. He met no one in their office in Lagos to receive the letter,” he stated.

In January 2023, Middlechase mailed Ayodeji, promising to allocate the land to him. Because he was in the US, Ayodeji sent an agent to represent him.

“At the inspection site, Middlechase only showed the agent I sent a piece of land with nothing to prove it was mine. After that, they sent a mail in response to my previous enquiry when I asked for my land,” Ayodeji stated.

No survey was conducted nor deed of conveyance was issued after that,” Ayodeji narrated, adding that “the said deed of conveyance they [Middlechase] sent was for someone else.”

Middlechase Property Ltd. eventually held an online meeting with Ayodeji and clarified that the land allocated was not for him and promised to issue another plot of land—a land which, after nearly four years, remained unfulfilled by Middlechase. Instead, Middlechase went incomunicado. Hence, a pre-action suit was filed for compliance.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time Middlechase Property Ltd. has been accused of financial theft on the real estate front by accepting payment and not delivering.

On August 9, 2022, FIJ reported how the controversial real estate firm accepted ₦14.5 million from a customer but failed to provide him with a house at Mansfield Apartments, as advertised.

Similarly, on September 8, another FIJ report indicated that a customer’s mother passed away while waiting for the ₦16.5 million apartment from her son. Middlechase Property Ltd also failed to deliver on its promise during the period.

West Africa Weekly also gathered that the real estate firm stopped the Easton Towers scheme for a while, only to transition into Easton Heights in 2023, while the founders run paid seminars for real estate enthusiasts.

West Africa Weekly contacted Middlechase Property Ltd. on Saturday to get their comments. One of the contacts assigned to Abimbola Giwa, a company representative, was unreachable. Other contacts publicly made available by Middlechase Property Ltd. were unreachable. Also, an email asking for media comments was sent to the firm, but no response was received at press time.
