AFRIMA 2025 Hits Historic 10,000+ Entries, Lagos Set to Host Grand Celebration

814

The All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) has broken its own record, receiving 10,717 submissions for the 2025 edition – the highest in its history. This marks a jump from last year’s 9,076 entries, showing AFRIMA’s growing reputation as the continent’s biggest stage for celebrating African music and talent.

From May 27 to August 8, artistes, songwriters, producers, DJs, dancers, video directors, and even unrecorded talents from across Africa and the diaspora sent in their work, ranging from songs and albums to music videos.

West Africa led the submissions with 5,215 entries, followed by Southern Africa (2,080), Eastern Africa (804), Central Africa (291), Northern Africa (267), and 75 entries from Africans abroad.

A 13-member international jury began reviewing entries in Lagos on August 8, assessing originality, quality, impact, and cultural relevance. Nominees will be announced on August 24, kicking off the voting period from September 5 until November 29, just a day before the grand finale.

AFRIMA 2025 will run in Lagos from November 25 to 30. The week-long celebration will include the Africa Music Business Summit, AFRIMA Music Village Concert, Nominees Party, and the glittering Awards Night, where Africa’s best will take the spotlight.
