Over 200 young people from Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger are expected to participate in the first Alliance of Sahel States (AES) Summer University, scheduled for September 25 to 27, in Ziniaré, Burkina Faso.

Organised by the Circle of Actions for Economic and Social Development of Burkina Faso (CADES-BF), the event will focus on youth involvement in the reconstruction of the AES, with the theme “The Imperative Commitment of Youth for Real Reconstruction of the AES.”

The event is open to the public and is chaired by ministers from AES member states, including Burkina Faso’s Minister of Sports, Youth, and Employment, Anûuyirtole Somda, and Mali’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Abdoul Fomba. The event is also sponsored by general directors of volunteering organisations from the AES countries.

During the three-day event, participants will engage in discussions, presentations, and workshops.

Burkina Faso’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Karamoko Traoré, will attend as the guest of honour. The Secretary General of the Presidency of Faso, Dr. Zakaria Soré, will address the youth on the theme, “Endogenous development of AES Countries: Responsibilities and Modalities of Youth Engagement.”

Additionally, volunteering program general directors from Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger will host discussions on the importance of volunteering in the development of the AES region.
