11

China has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Mali’s development and modernisation efforts, Beijing’s Ambassador to Bamako, Li Xiang, announced during a symposium on Chinese modernisation held in the Malian capital.

The diplomat praised the historic friendship and cooperation between the two countries, describing the relationship as built on mutual trust, reciprocal respect, and solidarity. He noted that Sino-Malian cooperation continues to strengthen across multiple sectors, including health, infrastructure, education, technology, and renewable energy, all delivering tangible benefits to the people of both nations.

Ambassador Li Xiang also underscored China’s support for Mali’s sovereign choices and its pursuit of stability, security, and prosperity. He emphasised that every country must be able to choose its own path to modernisation according to its national realities. The ambassador reaffirmed China’s willingness to share its development experience while fully respecting Mali’s priorities and unique circumstances.

The symposium provided a platform for discussions on how China’s modernisation journey could offer lessons for Mali’s own developmental aspirations. Both sides expressed optimism about the deepening partnership and reiterated their shared commitment to advancing cooperation in areas critical to Mali’s long term growth.

The event highlighted the continued warmth of bilateral relations and signalled Beijing’s ongoing interest in playing a supportive role in Mali’s recovery and development trajectory, even as the West African nation navigates complex political and security challenges.
