Niger’s Minister of Equipment and Infrastructure, Colonel-Major Salissou Mahaman Salissou, has officially installed an ad hoc committee tasked with addressing the technical and environmental challenges of the Gountou Yena Canal in Niamey.

The committee’s mandate is to carry out a comprehensive assessment and propose sustainable solutions to recurring problems caused by rainwater runoff along the canal. It is chaired by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Equipment and Infrastructure and brings together all relevant stakeholders.

The committee has been given two months to submit its report and recommendations to the Minister, in line with the government’s Programme for the Refoundation of the Republic.
