Yobe Police Inspector Arrested for Stabbing Man to Death Over N200 Bribe

A police inspector in Yobe State has been arrested for stabbing a man to death following a dispute over a bribe. The incident involved Inspector Mohammed Bulama of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) 41 Division, Damaturu, and Abdulmalik Dauda, 39, of Pompomari Ward, Damaturu.

The Yobe State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim confirmed the arrest on Tuesday. He said the incident occurred on September 29, 2024, at Zango Area in Damaturu around 5:05 p.m. The dispute escalated into a physical altercation, during which Bulama stabbed Dauda in the chest, reportedly following a disagreement over a N200 bribe. Bulama also sustained head injuries during the fight.

Inspector Bulama sought refuge at the ‘C’ Divisional Police Headquarters, where he was arrested. The State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) said it has begun an investigation, and Bulama would remain in custody, pending internal disciplinary action and prosecution.
