The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has made public the arrest of two political thugs ahead of the Edo State gubernatorial elections.

As disclosed on Saturday morning, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, stated the suspects were apprehended Friday at 9 pm (WAT) during an overnight raid following a tip-off.

This, according to the Force PRO, led to the arrest of an armed group leader at Oredo Ward 4, Edwin Obanor, aged 43, and Audu Tajudeen, aged 41, with Tajudeen reported to be from Ugbogbo quarters, Igara Akoko of Edo State.

Upon searching the bags in their possession, three cut-to-size locally fabricated pistols were discovered on Obanor. At the same time, one locally made gun was recovered from Tajudeen, the statement reads partly.

In addition, “The suspects are currently in custody and will face the full weight of the law,” says the Force PRO while urging the public to report any other suspicious activities to the nearest police station or via publicly available helplines.
