Nigerian music sensations Davido and Lojay, alongside South African singer Tyla, have secured spots on Billboard’s prestigious 2024 Honour Roll. The list acknowledges artists whose songs have topped the R&B and Hip Hop charts between August 1, 2023, and July 31, 2024.

Davido and Lojay earned their place on the Honour Roll by contributing to Chris Brown’s hit track “Sensational,” which soared to No. 1 on the Adult R&B Airplay Chart. This achievement highlights the ongoing successful collaboration between Davido and Chris Brown, who have worked on multiple projects, including their latest joint effort, “Hmm,” from Brown’s 11th studio album, 11:11.

Chris Brown’s influence within the Afrobeats genre has grown significantly, with his collaborations with Nigerian artists propelling several songs to international acclaim. Notably, his feature on the remix of Lojay’s “Monalisa” played a pivotal role in the track’s commercial success.

Meanwhile, Tyla, a rising star from South Africa, has also garnered significant recognition this year. She was named Best New Artist at the 2024 BET Awards, thanks in part to the global success of her debut single, “Water.” The song not only brought her international fame but also led to her winning the first-ever Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance in February 2024. At just 22 years old, Tyla made history as the youngest African artist to take home a Grammy, solidifying her place as one of the continent’s most promising talents.

This recognition on the Billboard Honour Roll marks another major achievement for African artists, underscoring their growing influence on the global music scene.
