PIDOMNigeria’s Health In Critical Condition

719

Isaac Bristol, the detained individual alleged by Nigerian police to be behind the anonymous X whistleblower handle PIDOMNigeria, is in a critical condition.

His health has steadily deteriorated since his abduction by the Nigeria Police Force on August 5 and subsequent torture in solitary confinement. An anonymous source within the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) told West Africa Weekly that if PIDOM is not allowed to get medical treatment, he may lose one of his fingers.

“His index finger is badly hurt and almost paralysed. He may lose the finger if nothing is done quickly,” the source told West Africa Weekly.

It will be recalled that PIDOM has been denied access to his family, friends and legal team since last week. Deji Adeyanju, his lawyer, was denied access to see him on Saturday based on a “new directive” from the National Cybercrime Centre (NCCC). This human rights violation has led to his deteriorating health, coupled with poor feeding and inaccessible medical treatment and supplies.

Several Nigerians, including his family and Ijaw leaders, have continued to demand the unconditional release of PIDOM from police detention. Earlier today, Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi warned that Nigeria risks degenerating into a “banana republic” if actions like PIDOM’s abduction continue unchecked.
