Ese Lovina Ukpeseraye Makes History as Nigeria’s First Olympic Cyclist

Ese Lovina Ukpeseraye has become the first Nigerian cyclist to participate in the Olympic Games.

Ese, the 25-year-old track cyclist, is Nigeria’s leading female cyclist and a national sports festival champion; qualified for the Olympics by excelling in three separate cycling events, including a road race and two track cycling competitions.

Her qualification came after a stellar performance at the 19th Confederation of African Cycling (CAC) Road Championships in Accra, Ghana, where she earned 250 points and won the gold medal in the Elite Women’s Road Race.

She has competed in several high-profile competitions, including the 2021 UCI Track Cycling World Championships and the 2021 Africa Track Cycling Championship, where she won multiple national titles.
