Yobe protesters have blocked the Yobe State Government House on Maiduguri Road in Damaturu, Yobe State, Nigeria.

A video seen by West Africa Weekly on Tuesday showed demonstrators storming the Yobe State Government House. The crowd was seen chanting and expressing their frustrations over economic hardships and perceived neglect by elected officials.

The protests are part of a more significant national movement, with citizens across Nigeria demanding accountability and better governance.

In Yobe, the situation has reportedly intensified as youths earlier attacked properties belonging to political leaders, including a House of Representatives member and a service senator. The crowd of protesters accused them of corruption and failing to address the needs of their constituents.

Tuesday marks the sixth day of the nationwide protest, scheduled to last until August 10.
