Nigeria’s Blessing Oborududu Qualifies for Semifinal in Women’s Wrestling at Paris 2024

Nigeria’s Blessing Oborududu is through to the semifinal of the women’s 68kg wrestling category at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Oborodudu started slowly, conceding 2 points in the first 3 minutes of the bout, but she stormed back in the second half to score six consecutive points, winning the match 8-2 on points.

She then returned to the arena, defeating her French opponent, Koumba Larroque, 6-2 in a victory by points in their quarterfinal match, silencing the home crowd.

Oborududu earned a semifinal place by defeating Koumba Larroque of France, coming off the mat with a 6-2 victory that left the home crowd silent.

The Nigerian dominated her French opponent during the quarterfinal bout, showcasing her superior technique and tactical understanding.

Her victory not only ensured her progression to the next round but also guaranteed her a medal, regardless of the outcome of the upcoming matches.

She will face Meerim Zhumanazarova of Kyrgyzstan in the semifinals of the women’s 68kg wrestling event at 8 p.m.

The Nigerian is ranked 6th, while Zhumanazarova, an Olympic bronze medalist, is ranked 16th.
