JUST IN: Senate Sacks Ndume As Chief Whip Days After Criticising Tinubu

The Nigerian Senate has sacked Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno south as Chief Whip following his recent criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Ndume’s removal was recommended by his party, the All Progressive Congress, in a letter written to the senate and signed by the party’s National Chairman, Umar Ganduje and the National Secretary, Senator Bashir Ajibola.

The Senate President read the letter at the floor of the senate on Wednesday and called for a voice vote in which the majority of members supported his removal.

Ndume was replaced with Senator Tahir Monguno, representing Borno North Senatorial district.

The ruling party also asked Ndume to resign from the party.

This is coming few days after Ndume criticised Bola Tinubu’s government saying the President is caged in the villa oblivious to Nigerians’ suffering.

He noted that Tinubu is surrounded by sycophants and looters who shield him against realities. “Mr President is not in the picture of what is happening outside the villa. He has been fenced off and caged. So many of us won’t go through the backdoor to engage him,” he said.

He added: “Nigerians are getting very, very angry. The government is not doing anything about the food scarcity and it needs to do something urgently. We don’t have food reserves.

“There is unavailability of food. Food crisis is the worst crisis that any nation can encounter. If we add that to the security crisis, it will be severe.”
