Enugu: Suspected Vandal Electrocuted At EEDC’s Facility

568

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) reported that a suspected vandal was electrocuted while attempting to vandalise a facility on Missionary Avenue, Coal Camp, Enugu, on Friday.

Mr. Emeka Ezeh, Head of Corporate Communications at EEDC, made this known in a statement on Friday.

According to the statement, it is presumed that the power supply was likely restored while the individual was cutting the armoured cables, leading to his electrocution.

Ezeh described the incident as both tragic and unfortunate.

He expressed concern over the increasing frequency of vandalism attacks on EEDC’s electricity installations, which he said occur daily.

According to Ezeh, these incidents not only degrade the quality of service provided to customers but also negatively impact the company’s revenue.

He stated that vandalism remains a big challenge for the company and cannot be addressed without the support of key stakeholders.

It is a battle we all have to fight collectively because once these transformers are vandalised, customers served by the installation will be greatly affected, Ezeh said.
