The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has temporarily suspended the enforcement rights granted to Messers NAEBI Dynamic Concept Ltd for collecting helicopter landing levies at airports, helipads, and airstrips.

This decision follows a meeting with the Executives of the Airline Operators of Nigeria, during which industry stakeholders expressed significant reservations about the levees.

The suspension, effective from May 30, 2024, was disclosed in a statement by Odutayo Oluseyi, Head of Press at the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

The decision addresses the concerns raised by various stakeholders in the aviation industry regarding the appropriateness and impact of the levies.

In response to these concerns, Minister Keyamo has established a committee to examine the issue thoroughly.

The committee will include representatives from the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development and its relevant agencies, the Airline Operators of Nigeria, International Oil Companies, and Messers NAEBI Dynamic Concept Ltd.

This diverse group evaluates the stakeholders’ reservations and formulating recommendations to resolve the matter.

“The recommendations of the Committee would proffer a way forward,” the statement reads in part.

Messers NAEBI Dynamic Concept Ltd had been granted the exclusive right by the Federal Government to act as consultants for collecting these levies.

However, with the suspension, the collection process will be halted until the committee completes its review and provides its report.
