Ekiti State Police Arrest Six Men for Stealing Motorcycles

The police in Ekiti State have arrested six men for stealing motorcycles from riders around Ikere/Ado-Ekiti and Igede-Ekiti.

The arrested suspects are Adebayo Bashiru, Oluyemi Kunle, Gabriel Isaac, Abubakar Abdullahi, Macon Andrew, and Peter Ninfa.

The State Commissioner of Police, Adeniran Akinwale, announced their arrest in a statement by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, on Thursday, stating that the Command’s Rapid Response Squad apprehended them following a tip-off.

He said that the suspects, during interrogation, admitted to snatching many motorcycles in the mentioned areas and revealed Lawali Ibrahim and Kabiru Abdullahi as their partners who bought the stolen motorcycles from them.

Efforts are ongoing to catch others involved in the thefts. Once investigations are concluded, the suspects will be prosecuted, the [police commissioner said, as he urged residents, motorbike owners, and riders to be vigilant due to the rise in motorcycle thefts.
