In a recent expose published on X, investigative journalist Fisayo Soyombo shed light on another purported ownership of luxury hotels in border towns by active and retired Customs officers.

The focal point of the post was Ar-Rakhab Beach and Holiday Resort in Badagry, reportedly owned by a retired Customs officer known by the alias ‘Ashimi’.

The post highlighted the seemingly extravagant personal wealth amassed by certain Customs officers, raising questions about the sources of their income.

Soyombo underscored the discrepancy between the ownership of these upscale establishments and the professions typically associated with such ventures.

“Why are active and retired Customs officers the owners of the poshest hotels in border towns?” Soyombo questioned in the post.

“Why hotels, why border towns, why smuggling zones?

Recall Soyombo had earlier shared revelations of a luxurious hotel allegedly owned by a Nigeria Customs Service officer in a smuggling zone. The hotel, identified as Rollykings Hotel and Suites, is situated on John Olubukola Ajani Close, off Old Badagry Expressway, Badagry.
