Nigeria’s Foreign Minister, Yusuf Tuggar as a delegate of Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the State Visit to Doha expressed that Israel must stop its war on Gaza, and the world needs to drop its “double standards” over the killings in the besieged enclave.

In his interview with Aljazeera, Tuggar while eyeing the nation’s interests in regional and global affairs stated that Nigeria has been consistent with its support for a two-state solution.

Meanwhile, Nigeria currently faces economic and social challenges with armed attacks by designated terrorists and Islamic extremists amidst an inflation rate of 30 per cent.

Following the delegates’ visit to Qatar, the Federal Government announced the new labour MoU signed in a bid to train and export the excess human resources Nigeria has, among other business opportunities to be explored between Nigeria and the Qatar government. Also, Tuggar discussed potential collaborations in sectors such as energy, trade, labour, agriculture, and more.

However, Nigeria as the largest economy in Africa with its President as Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) faces an uncertain future with Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso following the announcement in late January that they were quitting the regional bloc.

An exit the Foreign Minister has expressed is “not as simple as it’s made out to be”. According to Tuggar, “There’s a process [for leaving] and it takes about a year. It’s one thing to pronounce that you’ve left, it’s another to really disengage from ECOWAS itself because every citizen of ECOWAS carries a passport,” he said.
