Court to Revisit Shoprite 8-Year Malicious 100M Lawsuit Against Friday Emeh

The Federal High Court Judge, Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo, is set to revisit the Shoprite Retail Supermarket Nigeria Limited (RSNL) N100m malicious lawsuit with case No: FHC/ABJ/CS/802/2015 against Friday Emeh on Wednesday, 31st of January 2024.

Earlier on November 16, 2024, West Africa Weekly had extensively in detail reported the Intellectual Property theft between the management of Shoprite and Friday Emeh, an upcoming recording artiste who got ripped and cornered in a malicious legal battle for 8 years by his employer in Apo, Abuja.

Emeh, who in late 2020 had attempted suicide with the intent to consume a sniper, was rescued by Faruk, who saw what would have been his moment as an opportunity to save a life.

Shoprite in its suit against Emeh had claimed that they own his intellectual property by virtue of his contract of employment as a cashier with them.

Justice Inyang of the Federal High Court was eventually assigned to the case last year by Chief Judge Olukayode Ariwoola. Inyang had promised no delay in handling the case but, due to pre-election and post-election, couldn’t take the case to its hearing.

Meanwhile, a date, 31st of January 2024, was pre-adjourned to have the continuing hearing. The RSNL, however, had, in post-acquisition in 2021, sold its shares to Kentron Investment Limited, Bank of Industry, MBO Capital Management, and other Nigerian shareholders.
