Seyi Makinde Presents Report to Tinubu Following January 16 Blast

In the aftermath of the January 16th explosion in the Bodija area of Ibadan, led Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has tendered a report to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

It will be recalled that the preliminary investigation into the explosion implicated “illegal miners” who were able to scale through security filters and move large amounts of explosive material in violation of the laws and regulations guiding mining in Nigeria.

In a story published by FIJ, the said illegal miner was identified as one “Sawane Youssouf” who chairs SDYB International Company Nigeria Limited, a mining business registered under the Corporate Affairs Commission with an office location in Ibadan.

In the meantime, the Oyo State government and its law enforcement agencies have their work cut out to apprehend the individuals responsible for illegally storing explosive materials capable of causing damage to over 50 houses and 10 cars.

The explosion reportedly created a 15km blast radius from the epicentre, creating a crater that is 15 foot deep and 20 foot wide crater.

After five lives lost, 77 injured and billions of naira worth of damage, the blast report represents the Oyo State government’s first attempt to reach some sort of resolution.
