In a move to showcase its commitment to hosting the prestigious Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Ivory Coast has invested over $1 billion in a comprehensive infrastructure overhaul, set to host the tournament from January 13 to February 11, has strategically focused on enhancing its roads, building stadiums, and upgrading healthcare facilities.

In a bid to underscore its preparedness, Ivory Coast has unveiled four state-of-the-art sports stadiums, symbolizing a significant leap in its sporting infrastructure.

The endeavour reflects not only a desire to host a successful tournament but also a broader vision to bolster football development within the country.

Idriss Diallo, the president of the Ivorian Football Federation, expressed optimism about Ivory Coast becoming a hub in the sub-region.

He emphasized that countries lacking approved stadiums in the vicinity would be welcomed, showcasing the nation’s ambition to position itself as a regional sporting centre.

The substantial investment extends beyond stadiums, encompassing an extensive road network and upgraded healthcare facilities.

The multifaceted approach aims to accommodate the influx of visitors and ensure a seamless experience during the month-long football extravaganza.
