The Tinubu-led administration, through his media aide, Ajuri Ngelale has on Monday announced the dismissal of FCCPC CEO, Mr. Babatunde Irukera.

However, the dismissal came with two heads of federal government agencies. The second is Mr. Alexander Ayoola Okoh, Director-General/CEO, the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE).

The dismissal of the two CEOs, according to a release issued on Monday by presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale, states, “It conforms with Tinubu’s plans to restructure and reposition critical agencies of the Federal Government toward protecting the rights of Nigerian consumers and providing a strong basis for enhanced contributions to the nation’s economy by key growth-enabling institutions.”

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission Act was enacted on January 30th, 2019; Mr. Babatunde has, until now, overseen the transition and operationalization of the commission.  Having served diligently for four years, 11 months, and 9 days, Nigerians wished him well in his future endeavours.

This was after he took to his official page on X (formerly Twitter) to announce his exit as executive vice-chairman of FCCPC officially. Netizens who recognized and appreciated his service as a public servant have expressed their well wishes.
