The former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has urged the President of Nigeria to put an end to the incessant killings going on in Plateau State.
The former lawmaker charged Bola Tinubu to bring justice to the perpetrators if he is serious about the national security of the nation.
In a statement, he made during his condolence visit to Plateau yesterday at the State Government over the killings of over 155 persons in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi local government areas.
Dogara, who, along with serving and former members of the House of Representatives, was received by the State Governor, Caleb Muftwang, said that those who are responsible for the “genocide and orgy of violence are all out to end our ways of life and must be stopped.”
The Plateau Governor, Caleb Muftwang, stressed the need to identify the perpetrators and be brought to justice, adding that the perpetrators are “not just inexplicable but also dangerous and must be stopped.”
On the challenges that insecurities in the states pose, he stated, “There is an economy that has been built around this insecurity. We need to know who the financiers are and who paid for the hundreds of AK47 rifles. Where did they get them from?”
However, in part of his statement, he opined, “There is a deliberate orchestrated plan to cause mayhem to discomfit us. We may be knocked down, but we are not knocked out. Our spirits are not broken. God has placed us where we are and will preserve us.”
Muftwang also reiterated the commitment of his administration in collaboration with the Federal government to bring about putting an end to the carnage and decades of attacks that have claimed several lives in the plateau while urging that critical leaders should rally around the President to be able to expand his scope so that he understands the root and immediate causes of these problems and proffer solutions.
