363

As reported earlier there was a plan to carry out the demolition of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) complex situated in the bustling Computer Village area.

The demolition, which commenced past midnight and lasted till the early hours of the morning, was executed by a team of armed police officers accompanied by four excavators, catching many occupants off guard.

Reports and videos circulating on social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), captured the scenes as the excavation unfolded.

Witnesses described a scene of surprise and confusion as the excavators moved in and the demolition progressed through the night, concluding by morning.

Responding to inquiries about the controversial move, the Force’s Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, released a statement affirming the Force’s commitment to the demolition. ACP Adejobi emphasized that the decision was final, asserting the police’s plans to construct a modern complex on the same site.

The sudden and unexpected demolition has sparked widespread criticism and concern among local residents and observers, prompting questions about the legality and procedural aspects of the action taken by the police force.

Many are seeking clarification regarding the circumstances surrounding the demolition, especially given the late-night timing and the short notice to the occupants.
