World record holder Tobi Amusan clinched first place at the inaugural Jamaica Athletics Invitational in Kingston, marking the fastest time in women’s 100m hurdles this year with a record of 12.40 seconds.

Amusan, trailing behind her competitors for most of the race, significantly surged in the final moments, surpassing the previous world-leading time.

Danielle Williams of Jamaica finished second with 12.46 seconds, while Christina Clemens from the USA secured third place, clocking in at 12.54 seconds.

The event also saw Yanique Thompson and Nia Ali finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.

This victory is particularly significant for Amusan, who chose to skip the Doha Diamond League. It follows her third consecutive win at the Diamond League finals in Eugene.

The win is also a bounce-back for the star after her fifth-place finish at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, where she previously lost her title to Williams.
