Tinubu's First Anniversary Is Filled With Empty Promises — LP Lawmakers

As President Bola Tinubu celebrates his first anniversary in Office, the Labour Party (LP) lawmakers have criticised his administration, describing a show of empty promises.

The lawmakers also criticised the President for the country’s increasing level of insecurity and economic failure, saying it negates Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda promised to Nigerians.

In actual sense, what we see are failed promises,” said the caucus leader, Afam Ogene. But now, we’d like to ask, have Nigerians seen any indication of fulfilment of those promises?

“On the contrary, the average Nigerian is weeping and wailing, with pervasive hunger hunting millions of homes,” he added.

The lawmakers said Tinubu promised a “bold and assertive policy that will create a solid yet adaptive national security architecture and action to obliterate terror, kidnapping, banditry, and all other forms of violent extremism from the face of our nation.

“Given the security situation today, this appears to be a mere rhapsody of rhetoric, making many believe that the administration lacks an effective security strategy, as Nigerians are bogged down by incessant abductions, displacements, and massacres by non-state actors across the nation,” the caucus said.

Meanwhile, the lawmakers asked the President to urgently prioritise minimising Nigerians’ suffering by ensuring food security, access to clean water, healthcare, and education.
