President Bola Tinubu has announced Brigadier-General Lawal Ja’afar Isa (Rtd) ‘s appointment as the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children’s Education.
Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, released a statement on Friday night highlighting the appointments as strategic moves to bolster critical areas of governance.
“General Ja’afar Isa is a respected leader and was Military Administrator of Kaduna State from 1993 to 1996, while Alhaji Tijani Hashim Abbas was the Sarkin Sudan Kano,” Ngelale stated.
Tinubu also approved the appointment of Mrs Zubaida Umar as the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA); she is the first woman to be appointed DG of the Agency.
Ngelale emphasised: “The new Director-General of NEMA has over 20 years of work experience in diverse fields, including Human Resources, Finance, and Administration. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and the Institute of Credit Administration.”
Highlighting Mrs Umar’s qualifications, Ngelale elaborated: “She holds ACCA certifications in Public Financial Management and Digital and Sustainability Financing. As Executive Director of Finance and Corporate Services at the Federal Mortgage Bank, Mrs. Umar drove the bank’s strategy and repositioning and successfully facilitated the transformation of the institution into a modern, digitised mortgage and financial service provider.”
