Global music stars, The Weeknd and Shakira, will headline the 2025 Global Citizen Festival on September 27 in New York City, as the event returns with a mission to fight climate change, boost clean energy in Africa, and help thousands of children access education.
The concert will take place on the Great Lawn of Central Park and will also feature South Africa’s Tyla, Nigeria’s Ayra Starr, and American singer Mariah the Scientist. Actor Hugh Jackman will host the evening as part of his role as Global Citizen ambassador.
The 2025 edition of the festival is not just about music; it’s a call to action. Organisers hope to raise $200 million to protect 30 million hectares of the Amazon rainforest, deliver electricity to 1 million people in Africa, and support access to quality education for at least 30,000 children worldwide.
Global Citizen Festival has a tradition of using music to inspire social change. Last year’s show featured Post Malone and Doja Cat, and the 2025 edition continues that momentum. The festival is supported by corporate partners like Cisco, Delta Airlines, PayPal and more.
With performances by some of today’s biggest stars and a goal of raising awareness and funds for urgent global issues, the 2025 Global Citizen Festival promises to be more than just a concert; it’s a movement to make the world better, one stage at a time.
