Terrorists have attacked and abducted Isa Bawa, the Sarkin Gobir of Gatawa District, and his son while they were travelling from Sokoto to Sabon Birni Local Government Area.

The Sokoto Police Command’s spokesperson, Ahmed Rufa’i, confirmed the abduction to Channels Television, stating that investigations are underway.

Isa Gobir, the victim’s elder son, reported that the ambush occurred at Kwanar Maharba. The bandits, upon spotting the emir’s vehicle, opened fire, causing the tyres to burst and the driver to lose control, forcing the car to stop.

Gobir explained that the gunmen then took the district head and his son, who was driving.

He has called on the government to ensure their swift and safe release.

Local sources in Sabon Birni expressed their distress and have urged the authorities to act. They also mentioned that five more people were kidnapped in the area on the same day.

This incident adds to the growing concern among Nigerians, who increasingly demand improved security measures nationwide. The constant insecurity is one of many concerns prompting nationwide protests.
