British-Nigerian music mogul Joseph Olaitan Adenuga Jr., better known as Skepta, has collaborated with Nigerian artist Portable on his latest single, “Tony Montana.”
This track is part of Skepta’s upcoming sixth album titled “Knife & Fork,” slated for release later this year. The collaboration between the two artists began earlier this year when Portable dropped the “Tony Montana of London EP” after his highly publicised visit to the United Kingdom.
Fans have been buzzing with excitement on social media over Portable’s contribution to the hit single. His performance on the chorus is notably different from his usual style, showcasing a more coherent and melodic approach compared to his typical hoarse vocals and street music.
“Tony Montana” follows Skepta’s previous single, “Jangrova,” featuring Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck and actor Idris Elba. In addition to his music endeavours, Skepta recently made his directorial debut with the film “Tribal Mark,” which centres around a British Nigerian hitman. Skepta expressed his desire to diverge from the ongoing discussions about casting a black actor as James Bond by exploring different creative avenues.
Produced by the acclaimed Jae5, “Tony Montana” sees Skepta delving into Afrobeats, drawing inspiration from his Nigerian heritage.
