Senator Tambuwal Claims Three Years of Budgets Not Actualised as Tinubu’s Spends millions on his ‘Relax’ Billboards in Toronto ahead of 2027 elections

The past three national budgets have not been implemented, and the funds have been diverted for vote-buying. This is the explosive allegation made by Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, a former governor of Sokoto State, in a viral video clip currently circulating on social media.

Addressing a gathering of his supporters in Sokoto, the lawmaker who represents Sokoto South Senatorial District stated that the appropriations for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 fiscal years were never actualised. “I’m a Senator and honestly, all the budgets we did in 2023, 2024, 2025 have not been actualised. Where is the money? It has been diverted, so they can buy votes,” Senator Tambuwal declared in the clip.

His comments come amid intense political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections. The former PDP chieftain defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) earlier this year as part of a broader opposition strategy to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). As of the time of this report, the federal government has yet to issue any official response to the allegations.

While Tambuwal’s allegations paint a dire picture of financial reckoning at home, a separate development in Canada suggests a different kind of political investment is already underway abroad. Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has erected campaign billboards in Toronto, North America, featuring his father’s image and the slogan “Relax, Tinubu is Fixing Nigeria (Canada)”.

Images of the large promotional displays, located on Steeles Avenue West in North York, also feature Vice President Kashim Shettima and direct viewers to a teaser website. A source confirmed to SaharaReporters that the advertising company hired for the job is Target Outdoor. The billboard is believed to have been erected by the City Boys Movement abroad, a group founded by the President’s son.

The move has sparked intense debate online. Critics have pointed out the irony of such a campaign given the current economic climate in Nigeria, marked by soaring inflation and widespread hardship. Meanwhile, supporters have hailed it as a strategic diaspora outreach effort.

Observers note that the placement of the message in Canada may be a strategic attempt to influence Nigerians living abroad, who play a significant role in the country’s economy through remittances and political engagement. While some reports have disputed the verifiable evidence confirming Seyi Tinubu’s direct involvement, the billboard has undeniably added an international dimension to the country’s evolving political conversation as the 2027 election cycle comes into focus
