Rene Wakama, the head coach of Nigeria’s national women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, has been named the Best Coach of the Paris 2024 Women’s Basketball tournament.

This honour comes on the heels of D’Tigress’ historic performance at the just-concluded Olympic Games, where they made headlines and shattered records.

At the Paris 2024 Olympics, the team made a remarkable achievement as they advanced to the quarter-finals for the first time in the nation’s history.

Wakama, who took the reins of the Nigerian team just over a year ago, led D’Tigress to unprecedented success on the global stage.

For the first time in 20 years, the team secured a victory at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, defeating the formidable Australian team 75-62 in their opening Group match in Lille, France.
