The #EndBadGovernanceProtest, scheduled to begin on August 1, has commenced in Abuja, Kano, Rivers, Jigawa and Zamfara States.

The nationwide protest comes amid the rising economic hardship bedevilling the country. The protesters are demanding that the government tackle the high cost of living.

In Abuja, protesters are gathered at MKO Abiola Stadium. In videos posted on X, protesters in the stadium were seen singing songs, with placards and banners of “End Bad Governance Now.”

A High Court in Abuja on Wednesday had restricted protesters to only protest in the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja. This was after the minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, applied to restrain protesters from gathering or parading along roadways, streets, offices and public places within Abuja.

Protest is also ongoing in the streets of Jigawa, Kano, Rivers and Zamfara states. Protesters gathered at Port Harcourt Pleasure Park in Rivers State. In Zamfara’s capital, Gusau, protests are also ongoing.

So far, the protests have been peaceful with youths forming majority of the protesters.
