Osimhen Out, As Eguavoen Names 23-Man Squad for 2025 AFCON Qualifiers Against Libya

Austin Eguavoen, interim coach of Nigeria's senior national team, has quit the job following the team's goalless draw with Rwanda in Kigali on Tuesday in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers

The interim head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Augustine Eguavoen, has announced a 23-man squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying doubleheader against Libya.

The squad includes several regulars, including team captain William Troost-Ekong, Wilfred Ndidi, Moses Simon, Alex Iwobi, and Stanley Nwabali.

Victor Osimhen and Orlando Pirates defender Olisa Ndah were excluded from the list due to injuries.

The first match is scheduled for Friday, October 11, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, with the return leg taking place in Benghazi, Libya, at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium on Tuesday, October 15.

Goalkeepers: Stanley Nwabali (Chippa United, South Africa); Maduka Okoye (Udinese FC, Italy); Amas Obasogie (Fasil Kenema SC, Ethiopia)

Defenders: William Ekong (Al-Kholood FC, Saudi Arabia); Bright Osayi-Samuel (Fenerbahce SK, Turkey); Bruno Onyemaechi (Boavista FC, Portugal); Oluwasemilogo Ajayi (West Bromwich Albion, England); Calvin Bassey (Fulham FC, England); Olaoluwa Aina (Nottingham Forest, England); Benjamin Tanimu (Crawley Town, England).
