Ondo: INEC Publishes Governorship Candidates' Personal, Academic Credentials

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the academic and personal details of the Ondo gubernatorial candidates participating in the November 16, 2024 election.

The Electoral body published the details of 17 governorship candidates of the political parties on Saturday via its social media page on X (formerly Twitter).

“As indicated in our Press Release dated May 23 2024, the Commission today (Saturday) published the personal particulars and academic credentials of candidates and their running mates (Form EC9) for the Ondo State Governorship election at the State office in Akure for public scrutiny,” the electoral body revealed in a post.

With less than six months to the Ondo governorship election, the electoral body is expected to publish the final names of candidates for the exercise by June 18, after which substitution by the political parties would have been effected.

According to INEC, campaigns will kick off on June 19.

Although academic records of political office holders is almost insignificant in Nigerian politics, it forms part of INEC’s protocol.
