Niger's General Tchiani Shares Vision As Country Marks 1st Anniversary After Ousting French-inclined Bazoum

Niger’s Conseil National pour la Sauvegarde de la Patrie (CNSP), under the leadership of General Abdourahamane Tchiani, has shared his vision for Nigeriens as the country marks its 1st anniversary since the French-inclined and close European Union ally, Mohamed Bazoum was ousted.

Recall that on July 26, 2023, a coup d’état occurred in Niger when the country’s presidential guard detained Bazoum, and Presidential Guard commander General Tchiani proclaimed himself the leader of a new transitional government shortly after confirming the coup was a success.

On Friday, July 26, 2024, which marks one year since the ousting of Bazoum, General Tchiani, on National Television, shared his vision, including reinforcement of security and social cohesion, good governance, development, and acceleration of social reforms.

It is also worth noting that these visions were relative to the goals that birthed the creation of the Confederation of the Alliance of the Sahel States (AES).

Having shared these visions, it was earlier reported that the country has launched its academic year for scholars to study oil exploration, indicating a move to strengthen Niger’s economy and technically equip Nigeriens.
