1k

An unidentified Nigerian police officer allegedly stabbed a man to death at the Sky Mall on the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos State. The incident has sparked outrage and prompted assurances from the Nigeria Police Force spokesperson, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi and other police authorities.

The distressing incident came to light through a social media post by a user identified as @NotMentus, who lamented the loss of his brother due to the alleged police brutality. According to the post, the officer responsible for the fatal stabbing, along with his colleague, is currently evading arrest.

Good morning, sir; my brother got stabbed to death by one of the police officers attached to Skymall at Sangotedo LEKKI.

The officer is currently on the run; his colleague, too, is on the run, he wrote.

In response to the despicable situation, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), assured the public that the authorities would take appropriate action. He urged the bereaved social media user to liaise with investigative bodies such as @BenHundeyin and @LagosPoliceNG to ensure justice is served.

Adejobi’s statement on social media read:

I hope the command is aware of this. Work with @BenHundeyin, @LagosPoliceNG, and they will do the needful. Sorry about that. We will wade in, too. @PoliceNG, @FCID_ANNEX, @PoliceNG_CRU, take necessary action as well. Thanks.
