Nigerian Army Detains General for Theft of Rice and Generator in Kano

The Nigerian Army has detained General Musa A. Sadiq, a commander of the 3 Brigade in Kano State, for theft of rice and a heavy-duty generator.

Sadiq was reported to have diverted rice palliatives for soldiers under his command from the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) in Abuja.

He was also said to have sold military equipment to scrap metal dealers, including official operational vehicles.

Following reports of theft by the General, he was arrested and placed in a guardroom for refusing to deliver the rice meant for the soldiers, and other theft stolen in the military training camp in Falgore, Kano.

The rice diversion has disrupted the flow of palliatives distributed by the DHQ.

With this, the Nigerian Army has relieved him of his duties and replaced him with the former Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) registrar, A.M. Tukur.

According to Army officials, Sadiq is now subject to an investigation into administrative discrepancies since he was designated a commander of the Brigade.
