The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has raised the alarm over the growing cases of drug abuse among soldiers deployed in various military operations, stating that it has become worrisome.
He raised the concern during a one-day seminar on “Optimising Warrior Ethos in the Nigerian Army” held in Sokoto State on Tuesday.
Lagbaja, represented by Brig. Gen. Ibikunle Ajose stated that drug abuse among troops has become alarming and could affect their combat readiness.
He said that the seminar aimed to address the issue of drug abuse among soldiers, among other issues, to improve the combat effectiveness of the Nigerian Army.
He called on all military commanders to remain committed to finding new ways to manage their troops effectively to align with his leadership vision for the Nigerian Army.
