Malian Armed Forces Denounce Disinformation Campaigns Against FAMa

893

The General Staff of the Malian Armed Forces (EMGA) has warned against disinformation campaigns to tarnish the reputation of the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa). In a press release published today, the military leadership condemned efforts by terrorist groups, their allies, and sponsors to undermine public confidence in the army’s achievements.

Press statement

According to the statement, these smear campaigns seek to distort the FAMa’s successes, discredit the progress made in securing the country, and promote extremist narratives. EMGA reaffirmed that the FAMa remain a professional and dedicated force committed to defending Mali’s territorial integrity. It also expressed gratitude for the continued support of the Malian authorities and the population.

Despite these challenges, the General Staff emphasised that such attacks will not weaken the morale or determination of the armed forces. It reassured the public that security and stabilisation operations are ongoing and conducted with professionalism and unwavering commitment.

It will be recalled that last month, FAMa successfully repelled a terrorist attack in Diangassagou, with ground and air forces mounting a decisive response that culminated in the destruction of a retreating column of terrorists 15 kilometres south of the locality. According to a statement released by the General Staff of the Armed Forces on January 9, the attack occurred around 5:30 PM. It was met with swift and coordinated action by FAMa units as part of its fight against the terrorists.
