President Assimi Goïta has unveiled an ambitious national initiative to transform Mali’s healthcare system. Launched on November 10, 2025, the Presidential Emergency Hospital Project marks one of the country’s most significant public health investments in recent years.
Under the plan, seven CSREFs (referral health centres) in Bamako will be upgraded into fully equipped district hospitals, while 15 new hospitals will be constructed across different regions. Each facility will have modern medical equipment, including MRI scanners and dialysis units.

The project’s implementation timeline is set at 12 months for the Bamako phase and 24 months for regional construction.
The health of our people is a pillar of the Mali Koura vision, President Goïta said during the launch ceremony, describing the initiative as a decisive step toward improving access to quality healthcare nationwide.
The programme is expected to bring essential medical services closer to communities and strengthen the resilience of Mali’s public health system.
