A major illegal wine production facility has been uncovered in Anambra State. It was raided by the Presidential Task Force Against Economic Sabotage and Oil Vandalism in collaboration with Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra Brigade. The raid occurred on Friday in the Nkpor area of Onitsha, where authorities sealed off the factory and arrested seven workers.

The facility is located on Onowu Street off the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway. They had reportedly been involved in the mass production and distribution of counterfeit wines, including popular brands like Hennessy, Baron Devanis, and Classic Heaven. Over 2,000 cartons of fake products were seized, along with production equipment, such as mixing tanks and packaging materials.

Celestine Anere, the Managing Director of OCHA Brigade, explained that the operation followed credible intelligence and urged consumers to be cautious when purchasing alcoholic beverages.

The arrested suspects claimed they were unaware of the factory’s illegal activities, stating they were only workers trying to earn a living.
