Acclaimed Nigerian filmmaker Kemi Adetiba is back with a gripping new crime drama series, To Kill A Monkey, premiering on Netflix on July 18. This marks her first major project since her popular King of Boys universe, and it’s already stirring conversation.

The 8-part series, created, directed, and written by Adetiba, follows the emotional and dangerous journey of two longtime friends whose reunion spirals into a world of cybercrime, power, and personal loss. William Benson plays Efemini, a struggling man trying to make ends meet, while Bucci Franklin plays his friend, whose fast-paced, flashy lifestyle hides darker secrets.

After reconnecting, Efemini is gradually pulled into a life he once vowed never to consider. He’s forced to abandon his values to survive because of desperation and family needs. But with each decision, the line between loyalty and greed, survival and destruction, grows thinner.

Joining Benson and Franklin is an impressive cast, including Stella Damasus, Bimbo Akintola, Chidi Mokeme, Ireti Doyle, Lilian Afegbai, and Teniola Aladese. Principal photography concluded in October 2023, with production handled by Kemi and Remi Adetiba under the Kemi Adetiba Visuals brand.

As the countdown to its release begins, To Kill A Monkey promises suspense, strong performances, and a reflection of the difficult realities behind the glitz of fast money.
