Katsina Terrorists Jummat Prayers

Armed terrorists attacked the Dan-Ali community in Katsina State during Friday Jummat prayers, causing widespread panic and forcing worshippers to flee.

The attack occurred in the Danmusa Local Government Area, where several mosques had to halt their prayers as gunfire rang out.

A local source revealed to PUNCH that the terrorists entered the area, firing shots that scattered the congregation. Although the community’s Security Watch Corps responded quickly, managing to chase the attackers away, he stated that additional security reinforcement is needed due to ongoing threats.

According to him, for over a week, terrorists have prevented farmers from working their land in Dan-Ali and nearby villages, including Gwarjo, Dangane, and Tudun. He added that many residents have been kidnapped, leaving the community in fear and unable to farm safely.

The police authorities have not yet confirmed the recent incident. It comes amid a surge in terrorism in the northwest region as security forces, as well as the government, remain unable to tackle insecurity.
